Flawless Beauty: My Make-Up Story

Hey Beauties,

This is the picture that started my fascination with everything MAKE-UP! Though the picture says 06/30/2007 it was actually 10/25/2009 on my golden birthday 10/25/1984.

Now, me looking at this picture now it’s like MAC jye messed me up with the foundation, like look at my hair-line, there is a gray overcast on my face, lolol back then I didn’t know any better, but what I discovered was that I loved how I felt like I owned the room where ever I went and the enhanced confidence it gave me. From that point on I knew that I wanted to make other women feel just as bold and confident as I felt that day.

I remember when I didn’t even think about make-up I had this one friend who (Lord knows I love her to death) but she would take hours to get ready and majority of the time it was because of her make-up. I will never forget the time she came to visit me at school when I was attending UMES (University Maryland Eastern Shore) and we were running late to get breakfast and she wanted to put on some make-up, I just remember snapping at her (I laugh now cause it takes me just as long to do mines) and saying “girl, no, come on ain’t nobody going to be paying you any attention.”, and how blown she was. I laugh at the moment till this day, because I now know how she felt that day.

I don’t think I need make-up I really don’t but it’s like an extra accessory that don’t hurt you to have to enhance a look. I don’t wear make-up everyday, because I feel as though it’s good to allow your skin to breathe every once in a while. I practice a lot, and a lot, I want to be one of the best Make-Up Artist there is. I want people to know that you do not have to be artistic, or be able to draw to become an artist, if it’s what you love, practice will make perfect.

I would have never thought in a million years this would be a career choice for me, but I realize when I do it I love it, I enjoy it, I have fun, it doesn’t seem like work to me, and that’s the type of work that I like, work that don’t feel like work.

I am going to be honest I get nervous right before I do anybody’s face, but I stop take a deep breath and ask GOD to guide my hands, and place a vision inside of me to complete the task. (TRUE STORY) because sometimes this job feels to good to be true, like what I actually have a job where I love what I am doing. That is awesome to me! I have to motivate and encourage myself daily that the opportunities that come my way I deserve them, and it’s okay to be great at what you do.

That goes for anything in life that you want to achieve the doors that open, humble yourselves and roll with it, you deserve it, just make sure you handle all business with integrity and character. My mentor J-Nu always say’s to me “GOD WILL NOT TAKE YOU WHERE YOUR CHARACTER CAN’T KEEP YOU”

Meaning, have the character of god because it will get you through any situation, if you don’t have his character you won’t go as far as he wants to take you, becasue you won’t be able to handle the pressure that comes along with it.  Trust I know from experience, good and bad.
